LTStraipsnyje analizuojama vaiko tema Gabrielės Petkevičaitės-Bitės kūryboje. Tai gana svari Bitės kūrybos dalis: vaikai vaizduoti apsakymuose, apie juos kalbėta „Karo meto dienoraštyje“, parašyta kritikos tekstų, skirtų vaikų literatūros problemoms, ir t. t. Domėjimasis vaiko tematika ir problematika sietinas su profesine Bitės veikla (mokytojavimu), filantropinėmis pastangomis („Žiburėlis“ ir kt.). Kai kurie vaikų paveikslai, nors ir neišplėtoti, pasižymi psichologiškumu, taiklia menine detale; kita vertus, Bitės kūrinių poetika neretai mena ir XIX a. lietuvių didaktinės prozos tradicijas. ENPaper focuses on the theme of the child in Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė's creative work. It is an important part of her work: children appear in her short stories, they are referred to in "Karo meto dienoraštis" (The Wartime Diary), she wrote critical articles on children's literature, and the like. Bite's interest in children-related themes and issues should be linked to her professional activities (teaching) and her philanthropic efforts (the charitable association 'Žiburėlis' etc.). Bitė stands next to other writers of the turn of the twentieth century who wrote about children (Žemaitė, Lazdynų Pelėda and others). Although her texts are not children's literature as such, her creative work – in particular her small prose about children – is suitable material for children's readers. Bitė elevates the childhood as a special period in an individual's life that deserves an artist's interest. Her work features abundant descriptions of children that reflect social issues of the family and the society; her texts can be seen as generalisations. Although not expanded, some portraits of children are psychological and contain apt artistic details. On the other hand, the poetic aspects of Bite's works quite often echo the traditions of nineteenth-century Lithuanian didactic prose. [From the publication]
