Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjami švenčių sistemos kūrimo klausimai posovietinės Lietuvos miestuose. XX a. pabaigoje į Lietuvos gyvenimą sugrįžo buvusios, sovietmečiu draustos kalendorinės šventės, kuriamos valstybinių ir naujai atsirandančių švenčių tradicijos. ENArticle deals with the issues of development of the systems of festivals in the cities of post-Soviet Lithuania. Therefore, it is attempted to go deep into the situation of the contemporary holidays of Shrove Tuesday, St John's Day and Autumn Equinox in Vilnius. The presented material shows that the orientation to the emphasis of pre-Christian symbols and rites is clear in the forming ceremonial of contemporary calendar of festivals. The article states that the incompatibilities between the Christian and entertaining part appear in the situation of preparation and functioning of the festivals. In the entertaining part, the accentuation of the pre-Christian heritage allows interpreting the whole of the festival from these positions. Therefore, it is possible to say that the system of festivals, which exists and is attempted to develop, is problematic due to the different interpretation of their liturgical and folk part. Furthermore, the calendar festivals that have had represented the ethnic culture in the city, which have lost contact with the traditional agrarian environment, not always find the link with needs of the city dwellers. The distribution to the participants and viewers is clear in the festivals; therefore, they have only partly become the events intended for the city. However, in the contemporary multicultural and confessionally heterogeneous environment, the entertaining part of the festivals allow attracting to the public events the viewers irrespective of their nationality or religion.
