Tarp teksto ir konteksto: sociokritika kaip kompromisas

LTStraipsnyje aptariama dabartinė tekstinių ir kontekstinių literatūros tyrimų padėtis, kurią galima pavadinti teksto grįžimu ir kompromiso paieškomis. Kontekstinė kritika, apimanti istorinius, sociologinius, lyginamuosius literatūros tyrimus, atsigręžia į teksto interpretaciją kaip pirminę metodologinę bet kokio literatūros tyrimo prielaidą (literatūros sociologo Johno Frow pozicija), o tekstinė kritika bando aprašyti konteksto įsiskverbimą į pačias tekstines struktūras. Daroma prielaida, kad grįžimą prie teksto paskatino radikalus Franco Moretti pasiūlymas atidų skaitymą (close reading) ir teksto interpretaciją keisti nuotoliniu skaitymu (distant reading) ir kiekybiniais literatūros tyrimo metodais. Šiuolaikinė literatūros teorija ieško metodologinių įrankių, kurie leistų panaikinti konteksto kaip dėžės ir teksto kaip į ją patalpinto objekto dichotomiją. Vienas iš pagrindinių įrankių – vadinamieji tarpiniai konceptai, arba medijuojančios struktūros. Būtent tokių struktūrų paieškomis grįsta sociokritika, susiformavusi dar XX a. 8-ame dešimtmetyje ir iki šiandien likusi ištikima pozicijai, siūlančiai konteksto pėdsakų ieškoti pačiame tekste. Straipsnyje išsamiau aptariami dviejų sociokritikos atstovų – Dominiqueʼo Maingueneau ir Pierreʼo Zima – metodologinės nuostatos. Jos reprezentuoja pagrindinius teorinius visos sociokritikos principus: analizuoti patį tekstą, tekstinę analizę papildyti intertekstine, socialumo pasirodymo vieta laikyti medijuojančias struktūras ir socialumą tyrinėti neatsikriamai nuo subjekto problemos. Išvadose trumpai pristatomi dabartiniai lietuviški sociokritikos bandymai ir aptariamos šios metodologijos siūlomos perspektyvos. ENArticle discusses the current state of textual and contextual literary analysis, which could be referred to as a return to the text and a search for compromise. Contextual criticism, which encompasses historical, sociological, and comparative literary analysis, looks back at textual interpretation as a primary methodological condition for any kind of literary analysis (this is the position of literary sociologist John Frow); textual criticism, on the other hand, attempts to describe how context insinuates itself into textual structures themselves. The author posits that the return to the text was encouraged by Franco Moretti’s radical proposal that “close reading” and textual interpretation be replaced by “distant reading” and quantitative methods of literary analysis. Contemporary literary theory looks for methodological tools that would make it possible to eliminate the dichotomy between context as a box and text as the object contained in it. Among the primary tools for this are so-called midlevel concepts or mediating structures. Sociocriticism, which emerged in the 1970s, searches for precisely these kinds of structures, and claims that context is a part of the text. The author of this article offers an in-depth discussion of the methodological attitudes of two representatives of sociocriticism – Dominique Maingueneau and Pierre Zima. These attitudes represent sociocriticism’s main theoretical principles: that the whole text should be analyzed, that textual analysis be complemented by intertextual approaches, that the places where sociality manifests itself be seen as mediating structures, and that sociality be analyzed inseparably from the problem of the subject. In her conclusions the author presents contemporary Lithuanian attempts at sociocriticism and discusses this methodology’s potential. [From the publication]
