EN[...] The problem of the research: what are the causes of stress as a psychosocial factor experienced at work by the employees of educational organizations at Klaipėda District? The object of the research: stress at work in the educational organizations of Klaipėda District. The aim of the research: to investigate stressors typical of Klaipėda District educational organizations. To attain the set aim, the following objectives were formulated: on the basis of the data of scientific literature, to define the causes of stress in educational organizations and potential stressors; to identify the causes of the experienced stress. The methods: for the theoretical part, analysis of scientific literature, systematization, synthesis, and summarization were used. To the assessment of stress as a psychosocial risk factor in Klaipėda District educational organizations, qualitative methods of the research data processing were applied. To get the information about the impact of stress as a psychosocial risk factor on Klaipėda District educational organizations, direct data collection was used. For the statistical analysis of the obtained data, the descriptive, comparative, and correlation analysis methods were used. Statistical data analysis was done by means of SPSS 17.0 software. The employees of Klaipėda District educational organizations faced one or another kind of tension, tense and monotonous work, etc. The increasing or decreasing workloads, poor work organization, a prolonged working day, lack of autonomy or control, bad working relations with colleagues, as well as a temporary job and the absence of stability, were the principal causes of stress.For the research, Klaipėda district was chosen which, in accordance with the data of 2011 supplied by Klaipėda District municipality, had 19 educational organizations and 599 employees. The survey was conducted in September 2011 in collaboration with school public health specialists of Klaipėda District Public Health Offices who assisted in the conducting of the survey. 286 questionnaires were given out, and 246 questionnaires were returned and were suitable for analysis. 31 questionnaires did not meet the requirement for representativeness, the questionnaires were filled in a fragmentary way or spoiled. 9 individuals refused to take part in the survey. The research questionnaire Cronbach a - 0,784 lead to believe the questionnaire was valid. The outcomes of the studies of stress as a psychosocial risk factor proved that the survey respondents worked in educational organizations employing up to 50 staff members (63 %). Their age fluctuated between 21 and 67, with an average age of 44. Most of the respondents (85.8 %) had higher education, and 11.4 %, vocational, post-secondary, or higher non-university education, which illustrated the fact that educational institutions were supposed to recruit knowledgeable professionals. The average work experience of the respondents was from several months to 51 years. 25.2 % of the respondents had worked for 5 or less years, and 74.8 % had worked for more than 5 years; consequently, the change in the staff in Klaipėda District educational organizations was insignificant. To summarize the social-demographic characteristics of the respondents, one can conclude that the majority (67.1 %) of the employees in Klaipėda District educational organizations were mid-aged people (31 to 50-year-old) who had higher education and related their careers to educational organizations.
