Portrait of the regions of Lithuania

LTStatistikos departamentas parengė apžvalginį statistinį leidinį „Lietuvos regionų portetas“ kartu su Ūkio ir Vidaus reikalų ministerijomis, talkinant Lietuvos savivaldybių asociacijai ir apskričių viršininkų administracijoms. Šioje ekonominėje ir socialinėje apžvalgoje aprašomi Lietuvos regionai – apskritys. Leidinyje skelbiami apibendrinti ir palyginti 2001–2005 m. duomenys įvairiomis temomis, išryškinant naujausių statistinių tyrimų atskleistus paskutinių metų ypatumus ir tendencijas. „Lietuvos regionų portretas“ – vienas iš nedaugelio Lietuvos regionus apibūdinančio enciklopedinio pobūdžio leidinių. Vertingi tiek analitine, tiek pažintine prasme leidinio straipsniai parengti remiantis Statistikos departamento informacija apie regionų demografinę, ekonominę, socialinę, žemės ūkio, užimtumo, švietimo ir gyventojų sveikatos padėtį. Leidinyje taip pat pateikiama Lietuvos regionų istorijos, geografijos, kultūrinio gyvenimo apžvalga, jis iliustruotas žemėlapiais, heraldika, nuotraukomis, statistinėmis lentelėmis, grafikais ir diagramomis. Tikimės, kad leidinys bus naudingas tiek priimantiems sprendimus dėl regionų plėtros ir siekiantiems kryptingai naudoti turimus valstybės biudžeto ir Europos Sąjungos fondų išteklius specialistams, tiek šalies ar užsienio investuotojams, ieškantiems sąlygų kurti ir plėsti savo verslą. ENThe Statistics Department has prepared a review statistical publication “A portrait of Lithuanian regions” in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Interior, with assistance from Lithuanian self-government association and administrations of county governors. In this economic and social review, Lithuanian regions-counties are described. The publication presents aggregated and comparative 2001–2005 data on a variety of topics, specific features and trends of the recent years – uncovered in the course of statistical research – are highlighted. “A portrait of Lithuanian regions” is one few comprehensive publications characterizing Lithuanian regions. Publication articles, valuable for their analytical contribution and information, are prepared on the basis of the Statistics Department’s information about demographic, economic, social, agricultural, employment, educational and health situation in the regions. The publication also provides a summary of regions’ history, geography, cultural life; it is illustrated with maps, coats of arms, photos, statistical tables, graphs and charts. We hope that the publication will be of use to professionals taking decisions about development of regions and aiming to use available state budget and European Union funds resources in a focused manner as well as to national and foreign investors looking for conditions to create and expand their businesses. The publication can be of interest to everybody, who wants to know Lithuania better, is interested in the history, present and future perspectives of a native land and other regions.
