LTGyvenimo tikslų pasirinkimas ir jų realizavimas šiuolaikinės visuomenės transformacijos sąlygomis, susijusiomis su kardinaliais socialiniais pokyčiais, yra aktuali kiekvienos asmenybės problema, todėl tikslingi tampa ir studentų asmeninio ir profesinio gyvenimo tikslų tyrimai. Tyrimo tikslas – ištirti akademinio jaunimo asmeninio bei profesinio gyvenimo tikslų įvairovę ir, išsiaiškinus prasmes, įžvelgti jaunuolių ateities perspektyvas. Tyrimo tikslams realizuoti pasirinkta kokybinio tyrimo metodologija, kuri socialiai konstruojamų žinių pozicijas leidžia derinti su interpretacine nuostata. Studentų saviraišką siekta suvokti analizuojant rašinių „Gyvenimo tikslai ir jų realizavimo galimybės“ turinį, ypač dėmesingai gilinantis į akademinio jaunimo išsikeltus ir valingais veiksmais siekiamus gyvenimo tikslus bei rezultatus. ENUnder the conditions of the transformation of the contemporary society, when cardinal social changes take place, the choice of life goals and their implementation are a relevant problem to every personality. Life goals obtain special significance in the period of youth, when an individual sets the direction of his/her own professional development, creates his/her personal life. The aim of the research is to investigate the diversity of Physical Education study programme’s students’ personal and professional life goals and, through these prisms, to foresee their future perspectives. To implement the aims, the methodology of qualitative research was chosen; socially constructed positions were matched with the interpretational provision. It was aimed to understand students’ self-expression through life goals by analysing the content of their essays “Life Goals and Possibilities for Their Implementation”, also by paying special attention to the academic youth’s life goals and results being planned and aimed thanks to will-driven actions. On the grounds of the analysis of the research results, three categories closely related to life goals were distinguished: integral (all-encompassing) life goals; professional goals; personal life goals. The content of integral (all-encompassing) life goals was reflected by the following sub-categories: meaning-focused goals; realised goals; long-term goals; goals on giving sense to existence, i.e. attitudes. In the hierarchy of students’ future strategies, professional goals took the most important / highest position. The content of students’ personal life goals was expressed by the following sub-categories: creation of family; raising of children; taking care of children-to-be; taking care of parents; development of personal traits. Perceiving family as an important value of personal life, students demonstrate their orientation towards the traditional forms of relationships inside a family.It should be noted that, when planning their future, present-day students construct the strategies of consumption and this allows them stating that consumption becomes the important socio-cultural characteristics, which is closely related to young people’s life style, its projection. The Physical Education and Sport study programme students’ life orientations and plans that have been revealed, the imaginary future models reflect not only the specificity of youth consciousness, the peculiarities of student’s age, but also the complicated present-day changes of a society.
