LTStraipsnyje lyginamos pagrindinių ir vidurinių mokyklų 5-10 klasių mokinių nesėkmingo mokymosi ir mokyklos nelankymo priežastys: analizuojama mokinių, turinčių mokymosi sunkumų, ir mokinių, nelankančių mokyklos, situacija šeimoje; jų santykiai su bendraamžiais ir mokytojais; aptariami mokymosi sunkumai ir mokyklos nelankymo priežastys, susiję su paties mokinio asmenybe. ENThe goal of research to compare the reasons of learning difficulties and non- attendance of school among dropouts from basic and secondary school. The target group included 667 students who were dropouts from 5-10 grades of secondary and basic schools. The methods used in the study was questionnaires. Data analysis were conducted in the statistical package for the social science (SPSS PS 10.1). This research was support by Ministry of Education and Science. The conclusions of the study can be stated as follows. Several statistically significant differences were found among secondary and basic schools: 1) dropouts showed no interests towards to school mostly in secondary than in basic school; 2) bad learning conditions, low financial support, stress, fear, anxiety in the family mostly evaluated as the reasons of learning difficulties and school non- attendance in the secondary school than in basic school students dropouts. 3) Low students self- esteem, poor academic achievement and performance, poor relations with teachers and school friends, difficulties to understand learning materials, dominated in secondary school mostly than in basic school. 4) Dropout from secondary school mostly get support from school psychologist, social worker, special educator than basic school dropout.
