Deivių vaizdinio apmatai pagal XVI-XVII a. rašytinius šaltinius
LTŠis straipsnis yra pirmas bandymas nuosekliai ir analitiškai peržvelgti visą turimą medžiagą, liudijančią apie sudėtingą senosios lietuvių religijos fenomeną, šaltiniuose vadinamą „Deivės“. Straipsnyje bandoma skelbtą bei archyvinę medžiagą ne tik sutelkti, bet ir pateikti šio fenomeno interpretaciją, remiantis šaltinių kritikos, filologinės hermeneutikos ir religijų istorijos bei fenomenologijos prielaidomis. Deivės čia suvokiamos ne kaip religinės ar pasaulėžiūrinės sistemos konstruktas, bet kaip XVI–XVII valstietiško pasaulėvaizdžio dėmuo. Apibendrinus šaltinių duomenis galima teigti, kad deivės – tai moterų vadovaujamas kultas, iš kurio vyrai nėra išskiriami. Nors Deivių garbinimu rūpinasi moterys, jame dalyvauja ir šeimos tėvas, šeimos motina mirdama Deives patiki savo dukterims. Daugelis senųjų reliktinių aukojimų turi bendruomeninį pobūdį. Kaimas susirenka į aukojimo vaišes dažniausiai lūžiniais metų momentais. Nesunkiai pastebimi chtoniniai ir vaisingumo motyvai: kiaulė, juodas paršelis, tamsūs apeiginiai drabužiai. Atskiro dėmesio verti galimi lunariniai motyvai. Treji devyneri aukojamos duonos gabalėliai gali būti siejami su mėnulio kultu. Deivių ambivalencija šaltiniuose atskleista itin ryškiai – jų aukurai yra sacrum telkiniai, itin pavojingi nepašvęstiesiems, jos baudžia neatliekančius apeigų, jos gali būti piktos ir kenkėjiškos be matomos priežasties, todėl reikalingos maldymo. ENThe present article is the first attempt to consistently and analytically review all available material testifying of the complex phenomenon of ancient Lithuanian religion, which is referred to as the 'Goddesses' in the sources. The article attempts not only to concentrate the published and archive material, but also to present an interpretation of this phenomenon based on the presumptions of criticism, philological hermeneutics and history and phenomenology of religion provided in the sources. Here the Goddesses are perceived not as a construct of religious or worldview system, but as a component of the peasant world perception in the 16th - 17th c. Having generalised the data of the sources, it may be stated that the Goddesses are a cult lead by women, from which the men are not excluded. Although women take care of the worship of the Goddesses, the father of the family also participates, the mother of the family at her death entrusts the worship of Goddesses to her daughters. Many old relict sacrifices are of communal nature. A village community usually gathers to a sacrificial feast at the breaking points of the year. Chthonic and fertility motifs are easy to note: a pig, a black piglet, dark ceremonial clothes. Lunar motifs are worthy of individual attention. Three nines of sacrificed bread pieces may be associated with the cult of the moon. The ambivalence of the Goddesses is revealed especially clearly in the sources: their altars are sacrum concentrations very dangerous to the non-consecrated; they punish those who do not perform the rites, they may be vicious and malicious without an apparent reason and therefore, require soothing. The widespread and important cult of the Goddesses has diminished and disappeared from the memory and customs of the people.
