Šiame straipsnyje siekiama supažindinti su teisės teorijos vieta modernių valstybių teisės mokslų sistemoje. ENThe theory of law is the first discipline that starts law studies. The theory of law is traditionally considered to be the basis of continental law. However, we do not have a common and unique theory of law to date, although there have been attempts to create such a theory for several years already. The paper aims to introduce the place of the theory of law in the system of law sciences of modern states. It analyses an intricate and complicated research object of the current theory of law and the contradictory methods applied by it. The paper explores the attempts to create a common theory of law as the basis of a common science of law. It analyses the tendencies and prospects of the development of a common science of law.
