ENEthnological studies in Vytautas Magnus University were started since the creation of the Department of Ethnology and Folklore in 1993. Attention was turned to the aspects of traditional Lithuanian culture as well as the impact of modernity towards it. In 2008 cluster "Nation and Tradition in the Modern World: Ethnological Studies" was created. The main aim of it is investigation of modern nations and change of their ethnic traditions. The most important areas of its studies are: change of ethnic traditions, research of modern folklore and ethnological investigation of urban life. The scientists of the cluster participate in different scientific projects, actively present their research in scientific conferences, publish results of their researches in the scientific literature.
