Varuna "Rigvedoje" ir dievo įvaizdžio sąsajos su velniu baltų mitologijoje

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjamos Vedų religijos dievo Varunos funkcijų sąsajos su baltų velnio mitologiniais įvaizdžiais. Straipsnio tikslas – patyrinėti, ar Varunos funkcijos, sutinkamos „Rigvedos“ tekstuose, turi sąsajų su baltų mitologiniais vaizdiniais ir konkrečiai, velnio funkcijomis. Pagrindiniai uždaviniai: atskleisti „Rigvedoje“ aptariamas dievo Varunos funkcijas ir jas palyginti su baltų velnio mitologiniais vaizdiniais, naudojantis įvairiais originalių „Rigvedos“ tekstų vertimais. Tyrimo objektas – originalūs „Rigvedos“ himnų tekstai. Pirmiausia semantinės analizės metodu aiškinama dievų vardų kilmė. Toliau aptariamas kosminis įstatymas rta ir dievo Varunos vaidmuo, palaikant pasaulio tvarką. Kosminio medžio simbolis kelia klausimus dėl Varunos ir velnio vaidmenų. Minimos jų sąsajos su medžiu. Toliau aptariama Varunos kaip asuros kilmė. Trumpai nagrinėjamas Varunos dvilypumo klausimas. Teigiama, kad prieš pasaulį egzistavo chaosas. Varuna kaip senasis dievas, vadinamas asura, ten gyveno. Tas pats sakoma apie velnią senojoje baltų mitologijoje, kur jis irgi susijęs su chaosu. Ieškant sąsajų tarp Varunos ir velnio analizuojami pasaulio kūrimo mitai. Po pasaulio sukūrimo jis išplečiamas į tris sferas. Varuna ir velnias priskiriami apatinei, požemio sferai. Be to, kosminis metų ciklas aiškinamas kaip ypatingas laikas. Varuna ir velnias įgauna didelę galią prieš Naujųjų metų šventę. Varunos ir velnio gyvenamoji bei valdymo vietos yra pirmapradžiai vandenys.Straipsnyje daroma išvada, kad daugeliu atvejų Varuna ir velnias yra panašūs. Senovėje galėjo egzistuoti viena būtybė, įkūnijusi juos abu. Varuna ir velnias yra panašūs Vandenų karalystės valdovai, tiesos ir tvarkos saugotojai, nusidėjėlių baudėjai ir mirusiųjų sielų ganytojai. Net jų vardų etimologija rodo, kad turėjo būti vienas žodis, iš kurio kilo dievų vardai. Juos siejantys vandenys nėra tik kosminiai vandenys, bet taip pat ir lietaus, upių, ežerų vandenys, nes Varuna ir velnias atsakingi už gamtą bei jos gėrybes. Taip pat, pasaulio sukūrimo mite abu minimi kaip blogio kūrėjai, priversti gyventi apatinėje pasaulio sferoje ir valdyti mirusiųjų sielas. ENArticle analyzes the functional relation of the Vedic god Varuna to the ancient representative of Baltic mythology Velnias. The aim is to determine whether Varuna's functions, as unfolded in the "Rigveda", has any relation to images in ancient Baltic mythology, especially in comparison to the functions of Velnias. The objective is to overview the god Varuna's functions mentioned in the "Rigveda" and compare them to the Baltic demon's Velnias images by juxtaposing various translations of the original "Rigveda" texts. The main object of the study is the original "Rigveda" samhitā text. First, a semantic analysis is provided to explain the origin of the divine names. Also the cosmic law ṛta and the god Varuna as the guardian of all cosmic order are discussed. The presentation of the cosmic world tree raises a discussion about the role of Varuna and Velnias. Their connections to the tree are also mentioned. The article further discusses the birth of Varuna as an Asura. The question of ambivalence is briefly explored in relation to Varuna. It is said that there was chaos before the world. Varuna as an old god, also called Asura, was representative of this sphere. The same is told about Velnias in the ancient Baltic tradition wherein he, too, is related to chaos. In order to find relations between Varuna and Velnias the main myth about world creation is analyzed. After the creation of the cosmos the world was divided into three spheres. Varuna as well as Velnias are associated with the lower part or the Underground Ocean. Moreover, the cosmic cycle of the year is explained as a special time of the cosmic cycle. Varuna and Velnias assume greater power just before the New Year celebration. The cosmic waters are explained through the living and ruling environment of Varuna and Velnias.The article leads to the conclusion that Varuna and Velnias, in many cases, are very similar. In ancient times, there might even have been one common creature that embodied both. Varuna and Velnias are similar as rulers of the Water Kingdom, guardians of truth and order, judges of sinners and shepherds of the souls of the dead. Even the etymology of their names suggests that there must have been one word from which the god's names were derived. Water which connects them is not only the cosmic water but also the rain, rivers, lakes, because Varuna and Velnias are responsible for nature and its prosperity. Also, in the myth about the creation of the world, both of them are mentioned as creators of evil which makes them live in the lowest sphere of the world and rule the souls of the dead.
