LTAptariami Šeškinės visuomeninio prekybos centro, vieno iš ryškiausių XX a. pab. Lietuvos architektūros objektų, funkcinės organizacijos ir kompozicijos ypatumai. Jie tiriami atsižvelgiant į industrinės statybos, pakopinės gyventojų aptarnavimo sistemos, taip pat šiandieninių prekybos centrų statybų praktikos kontekstą. Straipsnyje naudotasi 1985 1988 m. Šeškinės centro tyrimo medžiaga. Įvertinant šio objekto unikalumą, siūloma išsaugoti jo pradinį pavidalą, kaip ryškų paskutiniojo sovietmečio laikotarpio ženklą. ENThe peculiarities of functional organization and architectural composition of the commercial center in Šeškinė are highlighted in the article. This center is one of the outstanding landmarks of Lithuanian architecture of the 20th century. The peculiarities under investigation are examined in context of industrial construction, hierarchic public service system, and contemporary building practice. The research material from 1986 1988 of the commercial center in Šeškinė is applied. Reviewed period is characterized by very fast territorial development of the city and insufficient quality of its environment. Even now its built environment does not lit requirements for life comfort and is condemned for renovation or physical destruction. The commercial center in Šeškinė is one of the public use big structures from that period. It could function much longer time in comparison with present public buildings. The sociological inquiry of 1987 revealed, that 84% of Šeškinė inhabitants are satisfied with the location of this center. It is closely related with the spatial structure of its district, it has exact place in urban functional structure. Integrity of its functional and artistic structure and stylistic wholeness, similarity with the scale of the Old Town in the context of hypertrophied size spaces and buildings of the dwelling neighborhood form the fundamental of its architectural conception and are the features of its value and uniqueness. Considering this conclusion the proposal to keep its original form is offered. [text from author]
