ENThe article examines the concept of paradigm and the main traits of paradigms of content of education (the curriculum). The influence of the modern and postmodern paradigm on education, the structure of content of education and the methods of education is overviewed. The significance of the concept of educational programmes is stressed as one of the most important aspects of the competence of a modern pedagogue. The concepts of the theory of content of education in the article are oriented to the area of artistic training. With the change of the cultural context, it becomes especially vital to substantiate and rearrange the content of artistic training in terms of concept, taking into consideration the insights of the modern educational theories.
