LTStraipsnyje aptariamas Lietuvos baletas kaip mokslinių tyrimų objektas; apžvelgiama šios meno rūšies tyrimų genezė; pristatomi svarbiausi baleto tyrinėtojai, jų darbai aptariami kitų menotyros krypčių mokslinių tyrimų kontekste; išskiriamos dvi pagrindinės baleto reiškinius nagrinėjančios metodologinės kryptys: istorinis metodas ir kritinė atskirų reiškinių refleksija. Konstatuojamas XX a. II pusėje įsitvirtinęs atsargus, faktografinis, fiksuojantysis, polemikos vengiantis baleto reiškinių analizavimo pobūdis ir šios tradicijos įtaka šiuolaikiniams negausiems baleto meno tyrimams. ENArticle presents Lithuanian ballet as an object of scientific research, surveys the development of the scientific approach to the history of Lithuanian ballet, shortly introduces the main tendencies of reflections on Lithuanian ballet, which was formed in the first half of the 20th century: informative, based on factography (Jonas Kardelis), and critical, based on contextual analysis of cultural situation (Vera Sotnikovaitė-Radauskienė). These two approaches are reflected in the situation of ballet research in the last few decades (Aliodija Ruzgaitė, Žilvinas Dautartas, Helmutas Šabasevičius), when factography was supplemented with an analytical point of view, the former still dominating. The historical facts of ballet history are still rarely included into more general scientific studies (Vida Bakutytė), although the origin of Lithuanian ballet connected with Russian culture attracts attention of Russian scientists (Natalia Dunaeva, Inna Sklyarevskaya). This situation of Lithuanian ballet research lacking scientific controversy is determined by the fact that there are only some Lithuanian researches interested in ballet as a cultural phenomenon. On the other hand, this is connected with the state of Lithuanian choreography, which lacks intensity of development, originality of artistic forms and closer relations with contemporary Lithuanian culture.
