LTStraipsnyje aptariama paauglystės etapo ypatumai, paauglių lytinio švietimo ir lytinio ugdymo sampratų skirtumai, visuomenės sveikatos priežiūros specialisto veikla, ugdant ir lytiškai šviečiant paauglius. Straipsnis pagrįstas kiekybiniu tyrimu su 8-9 klasių moksleiviais. Tyrimas buvo atliktas Utenos Rapolo Šaltenio pagrindinėje mokykloje 2011 m. lapkričio mėn. Tyrimo metodai: mokslinės literatūros analizė. Empirinei darbo daliai atlikti taikytas kiekybinis tyrimo metodas. Tyrimo tikslas: išanalizuoti visuomenės sveikatos priežiūros specialisto veiklą, ugdant ir lytiškai šviečiant paauglius. Tyrimo duomenys atskleidė, jog: lytinis ugdymas (grindžiamas valios ugdymo principu) ir lytinis švietimas (grindžiamas žinių teikimo principu) iš esmės du skirtingi pedagoginiai reiškiniai, tačiau pedagogiškai tikslingas jų derinimas laiduoja visavertį lytinį ugdymą. Visuomenės sveikatos priežiūros specialisto, vykdančio sveikatos priežiūrą mokykloje, profesinę kompetenciją sudaro mokėjimas organizuoti ir užtikrinti mokykloje lytinio ugdymo procesą, kurio metu mokiniams ne tik suteikiamos žinios lytiškumo klausimais, bet kartu ir ugdomas kritinis mąstymas, valia, pagarba sau ir kitiems, formuojamos vertybinės nuostatos. ENIncreasing number of abortions among teenagers, early and unplanned births, lonely children, sexually transmitted diseases. There is lack of literature concerning these questions at schools. Object of the research – activities of public health specialist in upbringing and sexual education of teenagers. Objective of the research – to analyze activities of public health specialist in upbringing and sexual education of teenagers. Tasks of the research: distinguish peculiarities of adolescence; analyze differences of sexual upbringing and sexual education; show activities of public health specialist in upbringing and sexual education of schoolchildren; reveal schoolchildren's opinion of activities of public health specialist in upbringing and sexual education of teenagers. Methods of the research: analysis the scientific literature was used in order to reveal teenagers' sexual education and its peculiarities; written questionnaire survey in order to find out schoolchildren's opinion of the public health specialist's activities in upbringing and sexual education of teenagers; statistical data analysis. Conclusions of the research. Adolescence is often named as critical stage of age, marked with extremities, confusion and high ambitions. Sexual upbringing (based on principle of upbringing of willpower) and sexual education (based on principle of rendering knowledge) in essence are two different pedagogical phenomena, but adjustment of them is pedagogically expedient and ensure fullrate sexual upbringing.Professional competence of public health specialist, carrying on health care at school, comprises profficiency to organize and ensure process of sexual upbringing at school, during which schoolchildren not only get knowledge on matters of sexuality, but also develop critical thinking, faith, respect for self and others, moral values are formed. The research showed, that: teenagers appreciate knowledge on sexual upbringing and education given by public health specialist, but they feel lack of information how to solve rising problems; communication is very important in upbringing and sexual education of teenagers; public health specialist rarely communicates with teenagers.
