EN[...] The purpose of this paper is to show the labour market demand in Lithuania and to assess youth employment opportunities. Content analysis of job offer ads was chosen to identify requirements for potential employees. Content analysis of job offer ads showed that work experience is not an advantage but a necessity. Although work experience was stressed in the majority of job offer ads no particular duration of experience was stated. Employers requirements were mostly related with individual abilities, knowledge of foreign languages, computer literacy, etc. and personal traits of human recourse. They needed responsible, dutiful and communicative employees. There were requirements for age, gender and health. Content analysis of job offer ads also disclosed some gender stereotypes and regional differences in the labour market. The smaller the region was the lower were qualification requirements, the shorter was the list of required skills. A lack of work experience is one of the main factors that has influence on youth employment, especially when an applicant is new entrant to the labour market. Employers were not motivated to hire young people with no work experience and provide workplace training. Employers described work and workload (part time, full time job). Comprehensive information about the fob offer was very important for those who intended to balance work and studies, work and family life, 2 jobs, etc. University graduates in management, administration, economics and other popular majors had limited employment opportunities in remote regions because there was a demand for unqualified or less qualified employees.
