ENThe article analyses the experience of training social educators in Lithuania, its reality and perspectives. Social education being part of social sciences system is perceived as a science and academic subject (or a series of subjects), as well as some kind of applied branch of education, providing a whole of concrete social educational methods and means to the teachers, and enabling to assist the learners, who are in a complicated social, educational and psychological situation. The aim of this article is to present the peculiarities of the organization of the studies of socioeducational activities in the context of the expansion of higher education of Lithuania. The object of theoretical analysis-the process of studies, their organization, ensuring quality training of the professionals in social education. Essential attitudes of theoretical analysis: education and self-education should be perceived as a permanent process, encompassing different aspects of the development of a personality. the process of studies of social education is an integral part of the expansion of higher education and trans-cultural integration of the country. Training of social educators is treated like a certain system of studies, in-service training and retraining of specialists of this sphere in higher educational institutions, the epicenter of theoretical and practical analysis of which remains modernization of contents, consistency and compatibility of informative-educational subjects in accordance with general higher education principles and our country's legal acts. The transformation of social educational studies is determined by the usage of qualitative - reflective modules, ensuring the synthesis of theory and practice, consciousness of studies, students' critical thinking, and unity of teaching and learning.Organizing social education studies, the issues of interception, specialization and provision of qualification of various levels of studies, depending on current political, economical and social development peculiarities in Lithuania as well as related difficulties, and our country's development in the international context, still remain debatable.
