LTDistancinių studijų, kaip naujos studijų organizavimo kokybės formos, diegimą pedagogų rengimo sistemoje sąlygojo visuomenės socialiniai ir techniniai raidos pokyčiai: pakankamai ryškus informacinių technologijų plitimas, nuolatinės edukacijos poreikis, pakitę pedagogų rengimo uždaviniai. Jos (studijos) gali padėti spręsti šiandienines pedagogų rengimo (pirminio ir kvalifikacijos tobulinimo) problemas rengiančioms institucijoms. Straipsnyje aptariama distancinių studijų samprata Lietuvos pedagogų rengime, šių studijų realizavimo formos. Taip pat apžvelgiamos distancinių studijų plėtros pedagogų rengime Lietuvoje prielaidos: galimybių, pasiruošimo studijuoti bei organizaciniais aspektais. ENDistance studies in teacher training are usually understood as a synonym of studies by correspondence, which are organized in short sessions by mail. Distance studies, however, are executed in the form of a direct word by means of advanced technologies. The era of distance studies in Lithuania has just started. Therefore, the possibilities of organizing studies by correspondence could be expanded by using technical means and new information technologies, and bring them closer to the mentioned features of distance studies. Distance studies, a new quality of studies, is more optimum than traditional studies in organizing teacher training, primary and requalifying. Primary and re-qualifying studies in teacher training meet the increasing student needs, improve the quality of studies, assure the flexibility of study programs as well as the options of electives. In primary training of teachers, these studies open better opportunities for acquiring good education, for getting new knowledge, professional skills, and competencies. In a re-qualifying, or refreshers program, this means allows the teacher to study and work in his/her place of residence, productively choosing the area of studies, and a convenient time for studies. However, distance studies require a certain preparation of a teacher: strong motivation for studies, skills in using information technologies, certain psychological traits of personality and the ability to communicate in a study environment, when the instructor does not directly participate. Nevertheless, new possibilities for distance studies are not so easy and quick to implement in teacher training. Certain difficulties arise - these studies are very expensive, there is high price of implementation and application of information technologies, the problem of instructors' competence still remains. The development of distance studies in training teachers in Lithuania is already evident. In the law of Higher Education, studies by correspondence (distance studies) are legalized. The landmarks of distance education development in Lithuania have been discussed in the Board of Ministry and have been certified by Distance Education Board (1999). It is planned to gradually implement distance studies into the whole system of education. It could be concluded that for the development of distance studies the means for acquiring and maintaining technology appliances are needed. We also need to create a didactic system for such studies, and to plan the instructors' payment for the hours spent preparing didactic materials. [From the publication]
