LTDėstytojo profesija yra sudėtinga tačiau kartu ir reikšminga. Anksčiau prioritetinė reikšmė buvo teikiama žinių perteikimui, kiekybei, mokymui. Taip buvo sukurta terpė tradicinei didaktikai ir reprodukciniams mokymo metodams. Dėstytojas dominuoja ir įsakinėja, o studentas paklūsta ir vykdo. Šiuolaikinės Lietuvos švietimo nuostatos grindžiamos modernia didaktika, pabrėžiant glaudų santykį tarp ugdymo turinio ir metodų. Aukštoji mokykla tampa nuolat besimokančia organizacija, kurioje naudojami naujausi ugdymo metodai, taikomos įvairios technologijos. Šio straipsnio tikslas yra naujų mokymosi metodų diegimas Viešojo saugumo fakulteto studijų procese ir pasiektų rezultatų analizė. ENLecturer's profession is difficult and significant. One of the crucial points in successful teaching is tasks and objectives as to educate a personality. Earlier the priority was given to the value of knowledge transfer, the quantity of the training. This attitude was the premise for traditional didactics and reproductive teaching methods to appear. Traditional model of teaching was as follows, the lecturer dominates and commands, while students have to obey undoubtedly. Modern education in Lithuania shall be based on modern didactics, emphasizing the close relationship between the content of education and its methods. Higher educational institutions become permanently learning organizations that use the latest training methods, and different ultimate techniques. The requirements for the reformation of higher education in Europe, so that it becomes a global standard, are inherently linked to a common European University Area and higher educational institutions providing a need for such reformation. New learning methods and the analysis of the results of their application at the Faculty of Public Security is the purpose of this article. The article deals with the use of active learning methods in accordance with the theme "Legitimacy of the use of a firearm and special means" and the analysis of the results received in the experimental and control groups.The study hypothesis suggested: to prove the positive effect of the development of students' legal consciousness and internal motivation during the experiment conducted on the basis of the implementation of active learning methods. The study was carried out at Mykolas Romeris University Faculty of Public Security during 2010-2011 years. Overall 119 students of Law and police studies program took part in the research, i.e. 56 female and 63 male. The first phase of the research aimed at the review and selection of active learning methods. During the second phase two groups of students participating in the research were formed, i.e. the experimental and control groups. The results of the survey confirmed the positive effect of the development of students' legal competence at the Faculty of Public Security. Positive results of the formation of reproductive performance components were theoretically justified and statistically confirmed during the research. In accordance to the author's personal experience of the implication of active teaching/learning methods, it can be argued that they promote learning motivation, interest in the subject of study, encourage students' initiative and creativity, as well as contribute to the development of students' skills.
