ENThere exists an opinion in the society that linguists are omnipotent dictators and are responsible for all the matters related to language, i.e., for gains and losses. However, the linguists themselves are not inclined to speak about their faults. The fact that linguists avoid analysing theoretically the problems of language standardization is regarded as one of the most important their gaps. Another problem is that sometimes linguists respond slowly to the subjects to be corrected. The more so, the opinion that it is quite easy to memorize recommendations for the society is wrong. Linguists have not yet reached the idea how to efficiently organise the work of culture of speech in society. [text from author]
