ENThe article deals with assimilation of international adjectives in the contemporary Lithuanian language. As it is known, one loanwords are translated into Lithuanian, other ones are Lithuanized. All international adjectives received from Latin, Greek, French, German or other languages are Lithuanized grammatically, i. e. the obligatory ending of an adjective is attached to the maintained root (stem) of a loanword: actual-us, filosof- inis, filosof-iškas, kvalifik-uotas, tendenc-iškas. When an original word has a suffix, it shall be cither maintained (konfidenc-ialus), or missed (legend-inis, not legend-arinis). The meaning of adjectives of the same root with a suffix or without it is different (fizikinis-fizinis). [text from author]
