ENSchool age is one of the most important stages of personality's formation; it is connected with the process of learning. This is a specific activity requiring constant tension, making every effort both of will and emotional. A changed pace of life which often violates the regime of a day and nutrition, implementation of requirements posed to an intellectual level of pupils, unfavourable environmental conditions often accompanied with routine and monotony - all this may weaken one's organism and cause various pathologies (Zaborskis, Žemaitienė, Šumskas, Diržytė, 1996). While analysing a problem of children's attitudes' formation towards physical activity, it is expedient to investigate tendencies and peculiarities of children's relation with physical activity as well as interests and motivation for physical activity. However, there are not many works investigating approach of junior pupils towards physical activity as well as possibilities for its training. It becomes clear that the problem of the attitude towards physical activity obtains a significant educational aspect and additional researches are necessary. The aim of the research was to investigate peculiarities of junior pupils' approach towards physical activity in the aspect of gender differences. 653 pupils of second and forth forms took part in the investigation. The research was carried out in 2005 at schools in Prienai region, Prienai and Birštonas towns. To sum up the results of the research, we may state that insufficiency of active physical activity is a relevant problem of pupils attending elementary forms. That is why it is necessary to train skills of active physical activity which would become habits. In order to reach a positive approach of pupils towards physical activity it is expedient to rationally diversify activities of both lessons of physical training and sports clubs according to individuality, needs, abilities of every pupil, to consolidate skills of self-dependent taking exercises. No doubt, a personality of a pedagogue, his/her approach towards physical training is influential. This should help pupils to self-train a conception of health care and its strengthening as well as to become more interested in various forms of active physical activities. [From the publication]
