Summary / Abstract:

ENIt is a common practice that a person studies at school, and then learns to become aprofessional. Each person can be considered as a consumer, who also learns, who gets some experience, who forms his/her personal market-related skills. The change of consumers is continuous process. If a consumer lacks for experience, he/she can easily become the target of deceptions or manipulations. In order to protect consumers form negative influence, the education and re-education of the consumers are necessary. The main purpose of this article is to expose the importance of consumer education and to identify the main forms of the informal education of adult consumers. This research demonstrated that consumer education was important because of its ability to increase the quality of life, the number of reasoned decisions and to prevent a consumer from a collision with unfair marketers. The better quality of life can increase a healthy lifetime. An educated consumer knows his/her rights and has a possibility to act as a consumer-citizen. The following forms of education are related to consumer education: preschool consumer education, informal learning, non-formal learning, lifelong education, target education, accidental education. The content of informal education is very attractive to a consumer because this content is closely related to everyday problems. Narrative learning can be used also to learning through stories or to conceptualize learning process itself. However, in order to implement the educational programs for adult consumers it is necessary to overcome the senses such as unwillingness or a shame to learn. [From the publication]
