ENThe paper analyses the collection of novels "Caucasian legends" by Antanas Vienuolis. The author lived in the Caucasus and its culture became the source of inspiration to write on the basis of Caucasian legends or motifs. The paper discusses the peculiarity of semantics and rhetoric of legends, analyzes the transformations of myth poetics and structural features; the structure of legends is analyzed also from the position of the musicality of form. The study refers to the works of Eero Tarasti, Claude Levy Strauss, Algirdas Julius Greimas, Albertas Zalatorius, Mykolas Sluckis, Elena Bukelienė, and others; comparative methodology is used.
