LTStraipsnyje aptariami pagrindiniai 2004 m. Lietuvos politinio gyvenimo įvykiai. Pristatomos Seimo rinkimų bei rinkimų į Europos Parlamentą tendencijos bei rezultatai, nušalintojo šalies Prezidento R.Pakso apkaltos procedūra, aptariama naujų Prezidento rinkimų raida bei konkurencijos ypatumai. ENThe article discusses the main events that occurred in Lithuania’s political life in 2004. It presents the tendencies and results of the Seimas elections and the elections to the European Parliament, the procedure of impeachment of President Rolandas Paksas, and discusses the development of the new presidential elections and peculiar rivalries that developed. It also outlines the topics and emphasized questions in the rhetoric of the Seimas, European Parliament, and presidential election campaigns, presented after the 2004 victory of the Labour Party, which shook-up the party system. It also looks at the resulting changes in the Government and Seimas. The article ends by accentuating that the year 2004 was also marked by Lithuania's membership in NATO and the EU. It presents the circumstances and conditions in which the country joined these international structures, as well as the parallels between the complicated circumstances of foreign and domestic policies (R. Paksas's impeachment and subsequent resignation).
