ENThe article deals with socio-cultural tolerance based on respect of Lithuanian and foreign (German, Italian, Swiss, Macedonian, Romanian and Estonian) teenagers aged 13–16. The results of international comparative research are indicated which highlighten common peculiarities of Lithuanian and foreign students’ behaviour and attitude. Statistically significant differences of Lithuanian and foreign students’ aged 13–16 tolerance to otherwiseness are defined, attitude and behaviour similarities in the context of multiculture are shown, emphasizing main assumptions of education, applying the model of educating teenagers with the help of theatre lessons. Statistically significant differences showed that the greatest disrespect shown by Lithuanian 13–16 years teenagers, both boys and girls, was to people "looking differently". A person who is of the same age but "looking differently" is ignored, snubbed, his/her thoughts and actions are assessed in advance with negative attitude and behaviour as to a "different" person. Foreign teenagers, both boys and girls, showed the greatest disrespect to representatives of other nations. The research showed that the greatest attention while designing models of education in Lithuania should be devoted to tolerance of people who look differently, while the foreign educators should concentrate their attention on developing of 13-16 years teenagers’ tolerance to other cultures. After the data of international comparative research was summed up it became obvious that the main features of teenagers’ intolerance to otherwiseness were: intolerance to people looking differently, having different opinions, representing the different culture and people of older age. This forms preconditions for educating teenagers’ tolerance with the help of the theatre lessons: disrespect to otherwiseness is expressed by teenagers’ negative attitude and behaviour, while the model’s of educating teenagers’ tolerance with the help of theatre structural part is attitude, which could be developed and altered with the help of the synthesis of theatre methods. Art education applying the synthesis of theatre methods is estimated as realistic mean of teaching teenagers tolerance on the base of respect. [From the publication]
