ENThis article reviews children's rights as they are established in the legal system of the Republic of Lithuania. The author of this article tries to determine the definition of children's interests and investigates the main principles of law in this sphere. By applying law interpreting methods: the systemic, the legislator intentions and others, the author tries to explain the content of laws on the rights of children. According to the author, the legal system of the Republic of Lithuania provides enough rights for children. This conclusion is made taking into account the fact that the Convention on the Rights of the Child is a part of the legal system of the Republic of Lithuania and there are other laws on the rights of the child. However, the author finds that the problem exists in the realization of children rights, in the education of the society concerning these rights, in the understanding of the exclusive significance of the childhood and in not enough attention to these rights paid in the society. Employing the main principles of law in the sphere of children's rights, the author tries to fill some gaps which are uncovered in the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. [text from author]
