ENThere is a new approach in this article about the organization and activity problems of the Advanced Courses (1920-1922). Advanced Courses was a forerunner of the creation of the Vytautas Magnus University. The article deals with the position of the Lithuanian government and public institutions in establishing the studies and extending its activities. It is concluded, that Advanced Courses were more and more dependent on the position of the government. The public status of these courses, without the interference of the government, was not accepted as a legal higher education for any students. The government of Lithuania understood the importance and necessity of these Advanced Courses and began to more, and more support them financially. In 1922 this has created real conditions to change the status of the Advanced Courses to the University higher education level. [text from author]
