ENResearch objective - to examine the viewpoints of students, their parents and teachers on the problem of lack of motivation to learn and to determine the factors which encourage learning. Research results showed that students' reluctance to learn is one of the most relevant problems in schools. The main reasons for the reluctance to learn arc laziness, low effort put into the learning process, mismatch between students' expectations and the learning curriculum, perception that what is taught in schools will not be useful in the future, unwillingness to learn due to little success in the process and low grades, etc. The research showed that motivation is related to the development of students' competencies and their learning results. There are many ways to encourage students' motivation to learn in schools. Proper assessment of students' work has a high impact on their approach to learning. The following conclusion are made: Students' attitude towards learning is very diverse - 28% of eleventh year students and 27% of twelfth year students have no willingness to learn. Main reasons for it are: laziness and mismatch between study programs and students expectations, i.e. students do not believe that what they learn will be useful in their future. Using active methods of teaching / learning an increase in students' grade average was achieved. It was assessed that 86% of students like creative tasks, 83% of students fancy case work and 78% of students like group work. Interviews with students and analysis of research results showed that active teaching / learning methods stimulate students' motivation and encourage their learning process. [From the publication]
