LTAtsinaujinančių išteklių energijos (AIE) plėtra yra labai svarbi, siekiant užtikrinti šalies energetikos sektoriaus diversifikaciją ir sumažinti priklausomybę nuo sunkiai prognozuojamų iškastinio kuro kainų svyravimų. 2014 m. prasideda naujas Bendrosios žemės ūkio politikos raidos etapas, todėl šiuo metu aktyviai diskutuojama dėl būsimos politikos prioritetų, o AIE rėmimas nurodomas kaip vienas iš svarbių darnau s vystymosi aspektų, leidžiančių pagerinti kaimo vietovių potencialo naudojimą. Straipsnio tikslas – remiantis atliktais tyrimais nustatyti racionalių atsinaujinančių išteklių energijos rūšių plėtojimo galimybes Lietuvos kaimo vietovėse. Remiantis mokslinės ir informacinės literatūros analize išskirtos svarbiausios AIE rūšys. Straipsnyje aptarta AIE perspektyvų vertinimo problematika bei pasitelkiant ekspertų vertinimo metodą nustatomos racionalios AIE rūšių plėtros kryptys Lietuvos kaimo vietovėse. ENDevelopment of renewable energy sources is an important part of a country’s diversified energy sector that is immune to energy price fluctuations and dependence on fossil fuel. In 2014, a new stage of Common Agricultural Policy development begins. The new Common Agricultural Policy will contribute to the implementation of the European Union strategy. It should be noted that Europe 2020 strategy identifies renewable energy sources as an important element of sustainable development allowing the European Union to improve the use of rural resources. […] The paper aims at identifying the rational ways to utilize the renewable energy sources in Lithuanian rural area s, which are based on the carried out research. The research is based on the analysis of scientific literature and information, comparison, expert evaluation, deduction and generalization methods. The paper identifies two problems concerning identification of renewable energy sources: selected classification and methodological approach to evaluating the potential. These problems are illustrated by the comparison of three selected researches and their outcomes. It is concluded that the results of the research on the potential for the development of renewable energy sources in Lithuania could be used as a guidelin e of opportunities in rural areas and agriculture; however, rural areas can be treated as a specific target group. To obtain a more detailed picture of the development of renewable energy sources in rural areas, the expert evaluation method is applied. The research is implemented on the basis of 56 experts’ opinion concerning the situation of renewable energy sources in Lithuanian rural area s and agriculture. The interview with experts was selected as the most appropriate way to collect data about current problems and identify the main ways to solve them. The questions were grouped in five sections: 1) Evaluation of the importance of renewable energy sources in Lithuania (situation and prospects); 2) Availability and payback of investments in renewable energy sources in Lithuania; 3) Opportunities for the support of production of renewable energy sources and energy use; 4) Impact of renewable energy sources on Lithuanian agriculture and rural development; 5) Barriers to renewable energy development and use. Summarising the results of expert evaluation it should be noted that the success of developing the Lithuanian sector of renewable energy sources is based on a clear position of the government (including identification of priorities for a specific kind of renewable energy sources) and correspondence to sustainable development principles. The experts identified the lack of cooperation between scientists and business enterprises as an important problem. This kind of cooperation could be supported from the national budget and be used for organization of trainings, workshops, public discussions (with experts). The experts underlined the importance of creating an appropriate support mechanism (including well-timed control scheme). The support should be available only for sustainable development projects. It is also important to guarantee the future for such investments on alegal basis (e. g. to regulate connectivity, prices, etc.). An important aspect of the development of renewable energy sources is education of rural community about the impact of renewable energy sources on and their benefits in rural areas (e. g. employment, environmental aspects, etc.).
