ENThe aim of the article is to analyze the Lithuanian literature works of the 20th century in which the figure of Mary has been manifested as a heavenly patroness figure. Not all paradigms (it would be too broad for one article), but only two paradigms of Mary of Šiluva as a patroness have been highlighted: 1) Mary as the patroness of the Lithuanian nation, the Lithuanian figure and; 2) Mary of Šiluva as the potential patroness of womanhood-motherhood. In the first part, the poems of Stasys Yla, Elena Tumienė, Alfonsas Šešplaukis-Tyruolis, Janina Pakštienė-Narūnė and the prose work of Nelė Mazalaitė-Kruminienė, Vieno miško legenda (1948), are analyzed. The second part focuses on just one text, the short story of Liudas Dovydėnas, Per Klausučių ūlytėlę (1952). The following conclusions are made: 1. Frequently, Mary appears not only as the acting personage, but also as the inner text addressee, who is addressed to ask for one or another kind of help, patronage - consequently, in literature the religious tradition, the religious texts (prayers, canticles) traditions are prolonged.2. The common Catholic image of Mary as the queen of heaven and earth in the analyzed works is transformed, changed by the image of Mary, namely by the image of Mary of Šiluva as the image of the Lithuanian queen. 3. In the work of Mazalaitė-Kruminienė, Vieno miško legenda, while creating the second manifestation of Mary of Šiluva for the Lithuanian guerilla of the postwar period, the figure of Šiluvos Marija has been used as a transcendentally legitimizing and blessing figure. 4. In the Dovydėnas short story, Per Klausučių ūlytėlę, the picture of Šiluvos Marija mostly appears in a not concretized subtextual size, strongly orienting all the main personages to family values, especially to motherhood and sisterhood. The mentioned orientation is highlighted with the special sign of eroticism. [text from author]
