EN[...] Object of research - sustainable development of organizations using standards. The tasks of the article: to analyze the concepts of sustainable development in organizational level using standards; to make research to identify opinions about sustainable development using standards in Lithuanian organizations. Used methods: analysis, questionnaire, statistical databases, SPSS program. ISO 14000 defines a voluntary environmental management system. Used in conjunction with appropriate goals, and with management commitment, the standards will help improve corporate performance. They will provide an objective basis for verifying a company's claims about its performance. This is particularly important in relation to international trade, where at present almost anyone can make assertions about environmental performance - and there are only limited means to address veracity. Implementation of a management system based approach will help companies focus attention on environmental issues, and bring them into the main stream of corporate decision making. ISO 14000 is designed to provide customers with a reasonable assurance that the performance claims of a company are accurate. ISO 9001 is one of a series of quality management system standards. It can help bring out the best in your organization by enabling you to understand your processes for delivering your products/services to your customers. […] However, the best returns on investment come from those companies that are prepared to implement it throughout their organization rather than at particular sites, departments or divisions.SA8000 is promoted as a voluntary, universal standard for companies interested in auditing and certifying labour practices in their facilities and those of their suppliers and vendors. It is designed for independent third party certification. SA8000 is based on the principles of international human rights norms as described in International Labour Organization conventions, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It measures the performance of companies in eight key areas: child labour, forced labour, health and safety, free association and collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours and compensation. SA8000 also provides for a social accountability management system to demonstrate ongoing conformance with the standard. […] The research included 429 respondents. The analysis suggests that many factors are associated with sustainability components and usually used in organization. The results show that organizations in part use sustainable development components in organizations. The research results show correlations between sustainable development components and standards in organizations. Research results show that the biggest part organizations use international standards in reality. Service sector organizations as usually use ISO 9001 standards. Also it is used in industry sector. The biggest part of industry sector used ISO 14000 standards that it is very important for environment and for customers. [From the publication]
