LTRecenzijoje aptariama Laimučio Bilkio monografija „Lietuvių helonimų daryba. Priesaginiai ir priesagėtieji helonimai“ (2008). Knygoje, kurią sudaro trys skyriai, pirmą kartą lietuvių kalbotyroje išsamiai tiriami lietuvių helonimai, tiksliau, pelkėvardžių sufiksacija. Įvade aptariami lietuvių toponimikos darbai, apžvelgiami helonimų tyrimai pasaulyje. Monografijoje nuodugniai aiškinami onomastikos terminai, daugiausia dėmesio skiriant helonimui, t. y. balų, raistų, pelkių pavadinimui, argumentuotai grindžiama šio termino reikšmė ir santykis su platesniu hidronimo terminu. Recenzentė pasigenda analizuojamos medžiagos šaltinių aprašymo – monografijoje naudotasi įvairia toponimine medžiaga, rinkta tiek iš gyvosios kalbos, tiek iš rašytinių šaltinių, tačiau neįvardytas šios medžiagos kiekis. Platus, probleminis tiriamo objekto ratas, pavyzdžiui, ar priesaginis helonimas padarytas iš apeliatyvo, ar iš atitinkamos šaknies asmenvardžio. Antroje monografijos dalyje analizuojami priesaginiai helonimai. Priesagėtiesiems helonimams skirtas trečiasis – problemiškiausias – skyrius. Autorius pripažįsta, kad išskiriant priesaginius ir priesagėtuosius helonimus neišvengta reliatyvių bei subjektyvių sprendimų. Visų analizuojamų helonimų skirstymas pagal darybos afiksų kilmę tyrimą daro sistemišką ir leidžia helonimų darybą palyginti su bendrinių daiktavardžių sufiksacija, išskirti specifines priesagas. ENThe review discusses the monograph by Laimutis Bilkis “Derivation of Lithuanian Helonyms” (2008). The book consists of three sections and it is the first book in the Lithuanian linguistics to extensively analyse Lithuanian helonyms, or to be more precise, the suffixation of names of swamps. The introduction discusses Lithuanian works in the field of toponymy and scientific studies of helonyms performed across the world. The monograph provides an extensive discussion of terms of onomastics with particular attention paid on helonyms, i.e. names of swamps, pools, by grounding the meaning of the term and its relations with the term hydronym. The reviewer indicates the lack of description of the source of the analysed material. Various toponymic materials collected from the living language as well as from written sources; however, the quantity of this material is not indicated. The scope of the object of the research is wide, for example, the author analyses whether a helonym is derived from an appellative or from a personal name of the relevant stem. The second part of the monograph analyses suffixal helonyms. The third section is devoted to the most difficult aspect of helonym derivation. The author admits that when distinguishing types of helonyms relative and subjective solutions cannot be avoided. The distribution of all analysed helonyms according to the origin of derivation affixes systemises the research and allows comparing the derivation of helonyms with the suffixation of appellative nouns and identifying specific suffixes. Depending on the etymon, two main groups of helonyms are identified in the monograph: derivatives from appellatives and derivatives from onyms.
