Vilija-Neris: vardo istorijos vingiai

LTIki šiol gyventojų kalboje vartojami du vienos upės pavadinimai Vilija ir Neris nuo seno yra mokslininkų diskusijų objektas. XIX a. šis klausimas buvo nagrinėjamas labiau atsižvelgiant į istorinę perspektyvą, o XX a. – į lingvistinę. Minėtu klausimu pateikta daug nuomonių, tačiau šiame straipsnyje dėmesys telkiamas į pačią upę, kadangi jų vertinimas ne ką naujo ir suteiktų. ENTwo names of the same river Vilija and Neris that have been used in the speech of the population up to the present day has formed the subject of scientific discussions for a long time. In the 19th century this issue was considered taking into consideration the historical perspective, and in the 20th century attention was paid to the linguistic one. Many opinions were expressed on the said issue; however, attention in this article is focused on the river itself because their evaluation would add nothing new. When investigating the problem the same river, pre-historical monuments on its banks and historic processes that once took place there are treated especially thoroughly.
