Summary / Abstract:

LTKnyga papildo dailėryros ir architektūros mokslą nauja medžiaga apie monumentaliosios dekoratyvinės dailės kūrinius architektūroje. Čia išanalizuoti ir susisteminti gausūs menų sąveikos architektūroje duomenys. Darbo rezultatai leido padaryti apibendrinančias teorines išvadas. [...] ENThis book contributes to the body of art and architecture studies by providing a new material on the relation of monumental and applied arts and architectural environment. The volume presents rich data and consistent analysis of the synthesis of visual arts and architecture. The author starts by discussing present bibliography on the subject and proceeds by defining the specific features of an art piece in an architectural environment, regarding it as a syncretic phenomenon. Then the author describes its principles of composition and analyses the interplay between architecture and visual arts by distinguishing two possibilities of tectonic interaction between visual arts and architecture - first one presents an artwork which is integrated, and the second one - an artwork, which is differentiated within a tectonic structure. The author sums up his research by providing a thorough analysis of the specific relationships of different visual art branches to architecrure (including wall painting, fresco, sgraffiti, mixed technique of fresco - sgraffiti, graffiti, mosaics, stained-glass, textile, sculpture, ceramics, architectural design), mostuly referring to the cases of modern lithuanian architecture. This analysis allowed to draw the following conclusions. [...] These artworks create a new syncretic architectural image by their independence and active impact on the architecture, its space, by their contrasting media, by visual deformation of building's tectonic forms, and by visual correction of the real perspective. The rich material, provided in the book on the cases of the pieces of visual arts in Lithuanian architectural environment are significant not only theoretically. Many contemporary pieces of art are described here for the first time. The volume includes - describes and presents photographs of those items of visual arts and architecture which were destroyed before having reached our time. By confining this analysis to the Lithuanian works of art, the author spotlights the most outstanding artworks, significant complexes of visual arts and architecture, examples of a new synthetic artistic image. The author analyses not only analogous phenomena in different arts, but also the synthesis of diverse forms in one artpiece, placed in a building or an interior. The author also suggests to simplify the existing terminology on the subject, questions such notions as monumental, decorative, visual and applied arts by naming all the art branches related to architecture "architectural art".
