Summary / Abstract:

ENPedagogical work involves a need to solve many theoretical and psychological problems. A teacher should be a prominent personality who loves his/her work and satisfies major pedagogical ethics requirements. He/she should also be creative and ready to organize team work, apply various negotiation styles. The aim of this paper is to study teacher's competence in team work and negotiations. The results of the present study have revealed that the roles of an implementer and team worker are most acceptable for teachers as a psychological type. The roles of a monitor, evaluator and planner are most unacceptable from this perspective. Not a single problem or task may be solved successfully unless the team includes participants of two psychological types, an implementer and completer among them. The results obtained in studying an ability to negotiate show that the teachers of the surveyed group mostly apply a normative style of negotiation, whereas an intuitive style is least popular among them. A normative style of negotiations is used by 54% more often than is recommended by scientists. The information collected in this research could be useful to school principals as well as for the analysis of the roles played by team members and, in some cases, for the formation of an ideal group to solve some relevant problems and to conduct negotiations.
