ENThe history of sculpture representing Stumbling Jesus "discovered" in Vilnius University basement on 2007 repairing activities is properly laid out in the article. The facts suggested that it was the culpture of Stumbling Jesus which was hiden after barbarous blasting of Vilnius Calvary in 1962. The condition of new discovered sculpture was miserable (it was covered by mud, the left hand and cross disappeared), so the process of restoration of sculpture has been properly described in this story. The restored sculpture of Stumbling Jesus now is replaced back to Chapel of the twenty seventh Station of Vilnius Calvary and believers are attending and worshiping it. The distinguishing sculpture of Stumbling Jesus, uncommon iconography and cult induced to research more deeply the begininigs and spread of this sort of iconography both in Lithuania and in Catholic Europe as well. The iconography of Vilnius's sculpture related to videly spread worshiping of The Jesus Way to the Cross and also to the sculpture images of this subject. Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in Poland (1600-1605) famous by sculptures of Stumbling Jesus from 17th and 18th centuries and particularly worshiped image of The Third Fall of Jesus should make an influence to Vilnius Calvary with it's sculptures and cult. The researches in literature and sources have been done to find an informatikon what preconditions of sculpture's and cult appearance could be in Vilnius Calvary. The information from the period of the end of 18th century and the 1st hf of 19th century is mostly insignificant and there are no historical facts which should prove appearance of sculpture in this time. The sculpture of Stumbling Jesus in Vilnius Calvary had been mentioned in sources only from the fifties of 19th century. However conclusions of of restorers and the manner of work imply of earlier time. It could be created in the 3rd quarter of 18th century and placed in the new sctcd Vilnius Calvary Chapel (they were concecratcd in 1772). The emergence of sculpture of Stumbling Jesus in Vilnius Calvary has been mostly determined by ancient could replace previous sculpture from the 2nd hf. 17th century, which later was renewed ( perhaps only head remain authentic, and body and garment was carved from the vood in the end of 19th century) and passed to Šešuoliai church (and is preserved there uptill nowadays). There are some witnesses that the cult of Vilnius Calvary sculpture increased in the begining of 20th century. Probably the older sculpture in Šešuoliai was renewed and sculpture of Širvintos church was carved nearly in the same time. Supposedly sculptor Vincentas Balzukevicius (1835-1907) from Vilnius was the author of those pieces. The wayside shrine of Čedasai with a sculpture of Stumbling Jesus and some grafie images remained imply the assumption that the iconography of this sort of images were spread more videly, not only in the territory of Vilnius diocese.
