Motyvavimas dainuoti chore yra aktuali šių dienų problema, nes muzika ne tik tenkina asmens savirealizacijos poreikius, bet kartu ir ugdo jausmų kultūrą, parengia kultūrinėms patirtims vėliau, suaugusiojo gyvenime, lavina vaizduotę, kūrybiškumą, ypač jeigu bendravimas su muzika tikslingas ir nuoseklus. ENIn the paper the most popular forms of vocal artistic expression at school, and namely, singing in choir is being analysed. Not in every is school, though, students are motivated for this cultural experience. This is an important issue to tackle, because music both meets the needs of self-actualisation, and educates for cultural experiences in adult's life, fosters creativity, imagination, and even builds up moral virtues. Research object: motivation of students to sing in a choir. Research aim: to reveal methods and concepts of students' motivation to sing in a choir, to investigate students' motivation and ways of its promotion. Research method. Semi-structured interview method has been used for the research procedure, which allowed to learn more about choral singing efficiency of Kaunas secondary schools from the point of view of the students and the music teachers. The theoretical and empirical findings of the study completed in 2010-2011 are presented in this paper. The empiric data is provided on the motivation for cultural pursuits from the point of view of students (16-18 years old) and teachers of music. It was revealed that according to students they are motivated to sing in a choir if their atmosphere in choir is supportive and friendly, and if they like the repertoire of a choir, also, if there are opportunities to travel.According to teachers, they motivate students to sing when they organise performances, provide students with various opportunities to meet other people, to travel to festivals, participate in concerts. Teachers also mentioned the need to create a supportive atmosphere in a choir. The conclusions are that a contemporary teacher is required to perform a number of functions, and even a teacher of music needs additional competencies, such as managerial (fund raising, organising, etc.).
