Summary / Abstract:

ENThere is analysed the motivation of schoolchildren, that have participated in Lithuanian chemistry olympiads in this article. In the XXXVIII and XXXIX Lithuanian chemistry olympiads of schoolchildren have participated 213 schoolchildren. It was established by questionnaire inquest that the participation of schoolchildren in chemistry olympiads was decided by two groups of motivation: considerable internal and unconsidcrablc external. In the most cases the internal motivation was decided by the wish to try himself, to develop the creative and analytical thinking, to extend and to increase chemistry knowledges, the external - by influence upon coevals and propinquity people also the wish to get supplementary points by enter the high school and so on. The main motive of participation in chemistry olympiads of schoolchildren IX-XIIth classes is the wish to try himself (so are thinking 92,0 % of respondents). The most of olympiads participants have linked the participation in olympiads with the choise of the future profession. Girls have participated in the olympiads more often than boys due to the wish to prepare for the studies at the high school. The schoolchildren XIIth class have participated in the olympiads more often than schoolchildren of another classes due to the hope to get supplementary points by enter the high schools. It was established by the research that the greatest influence upon the decision of schoolchildren for participation in chemistry olympiads had class community of schoolchildren. In the most cases the sex and living place had no considerable significance to that. [From the publication]
