"Sapiegų Švč. Mergelė Marija" - Vilniaus globėja

LTStraipsnyje aptariamas Leono Sapiegos funduotoje Vilniaus Šv. Mykolo bažnyčioje nuo XVII a. pradžios buvęs Švč. Mergelės Marijos atvaizdas. Trumpai pristatoma jo kulto istorija, analizuojami tikinčiųjų liudijimai apie malones, patirtas prie šio atvaizdo ar jo kopijų. Straipsnyje remiamasi dviem pagrindiniais šaltiniais: 1671 m. Vilniuje išleista prie paveikslo patirtų stebuklų aprašymų knyga “Skarbnica Niebieska...“ bei iki 1771 m. rašytu šios knygos rankraštiniu tęsiniu („Compendium albo zbiór niektórych Cudów...“), saugomu Lenkijoje, Krokuvos kapucinų archyve. Abiejose knygose aprašyti stebuklai straipsnyje analizuojami chronologiniu bei tipologiniu būdu. Išskiriami pagrindiniai atvaizdo kulto etapai (iki 1655 m. karo su Maskva, 1662 – 1669, 1670 – 1750, 1750 – 1771). Siekiama apibendrinti medžiagą tiek apie malones patyrusių asmenų socialinę padėtį, tiek apie prašomų malonių pobūdį. Išanalizavus medžiagą daromos išvados, kad aptariamas atvaizdas XVII – XVIII a. miesto gyvenime buvo labai svarbus, ypač jo kultas sustiprėdavo miestą ištikus nelaimėms. Didžiausias kulto augimas pastebimas tarp 1670 m. (paveikslo paskelbimo stebuklingu data) iki 1750 m. (paveikslo karūnavimo popiežiškomis karūnomis metai). Analizuojami stebuklai atskleidžia daug to meto visuomenės materialinio ir dvasinio gyvenimo bruožų. Straipsnyje atskirai aptariami stebuklai, susiję su Vilniaus miesto ir jo gyventojų globa, taip pat – konkrečiai su bernardinų ir bernardinių vienuolynų ansambliu bei Šv. Mykolo bažnyčia. ENThis article discusses the image of the Holy Virgin Mary in Vilnius’ St. Nicholas Church, founded by Leon Sapieha, which has been there from the beginning of the 17th century. The history of its cult is briefly presented, analysing the evidence of believers about the mercy experienced near this image or copies of it. The article is based on two primary sources: a book entitled “Skarbnica Niebieska” of descriptions of miracles experienced near the picture that was published in Vilnius in 1671, as well as a continuation of the book in manuscript form written until 1771 (entitled “ Compendium albo zbiór niektórych Cudów...”), preserved in the Capuchin Archives in Cracow, Poland. The miracles described in both books are analysed in this article both chronologically and typologically. The main stages of the image‘s cult are defined (until the 1655 war with Moscow, 1662-1669, 1670-1750, and 1750-1771). Efforts are made to give a summary of the material both in talking about the social situation about those people who experienced mercy and the nature of the mercy that was sought. Conclusions are made after analysing the material, that the image discussed was very important in the life of the city during the 17th and 18th centuries, and it was the cult in particular that strengthened the city when distress came upon it. The largest growth of the cult was observed between 1670 (the date the picture was declared miraculous) until 1750 (the year the picture was crowned with Papal crowns). The miracles that are analysed reveal many characteristics of the material and spiritual life of society at the time. The miracles linked with the city of Vilnius and the patronage of its inhabitants, as well as those linked with Bernardine Church and the Bernardine Monastery ensemble and St. Nicholas Church are discussed separately in the article.
