Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje atskleidžiamas Lietuvos jaunimo makiavelistinių nuostatų raiškos tyrimo aktualumas auklėjimo bei socializacijos diagnostikos plotmėje. Analizuojama makiavelizmo, kaip socialinio psichologinio reiškinio, tyrinėjimo teorija bei istorija, pristatomas makiavelizmo nuostatų raiškos Lietuvos jaunimo populiacijose tyrimas, kuris yra Vakarų šalyse sukurtų ir aprobuotų Makiavelizmo skalių adaptacija. Pabrėžiama makiavelizmo matavimo instrumentų metodologinės kokybės svarba: pristatomi makiavelizmo skalių kultūrinio validumo bei patikimumo kontrolės rezultatai. ENThe topicality of measurement of Lithuanian youth's Machiavellian attitudes is revealed in the context of evaluation of the youth socialisation processes in Lithuania. The theory and history of research of Machiavellianism as a psycho-social phenomenon are described. The authors of the article emphasise the topicality of evaluation and ensuring of cross-cultural validity of the Machiavellianism scales for the practice of empirical educational research in Lithuania. The Machiavellianism scale developed and used by Cloetta (1974,1984) was taken as a basis for the measurement of Machiavellian attitudes in Lithuanian youth populations. General hypothesis raised here is: the form of test presentation to respondents influences the psychometric dimensions of the test and the cross-cultural validity of the scale. Independent variable here is the form of test wording and of its presentation to respondents. Dependent variable here is psychometric quality of the scale. The sample of the research is made up of 260 respondents. The result of the first stage of the research is as follows: 1) the mixing of items of different scales (constructs) doesn't have any significant influence to response set effect measuring Machiavellian attitudes in Lithuanian youth populations; 2) the presentation of more abstract and depersonalised item wordings to respondents has some relation to response sets effect. The evaluation of construct validity of the Machiavellianism scale has been made here. In order to find out dimensionality of the Machiavellianism construct in new cultural surroundings (in Lithuanian youth populations) the factor analysis was carried out. The results of factor analysis confirm construct validity of the scale: the extracted factors could be interpreted in the context of the theory of Machiavellianism, of the hypothetical model of Machiavellian personality. General conclusion of the research is that the instruments for measuring of the Machiavellian attitudes (Cloetta, 1972, 1974) has cross-cultural validity and could be used in Lithuanian youth populations.
