Eduardas Volteris ir Carlo von Schmitho "Necrolithuanica" (1863)

LTVieno žymiausių XIX amžiaus pabaigos ir XX amžiaus pradžios baltistų - kalbininko, etnologo, literatūros ir kultūros istoriko, bibliografo, tekstologo, archeologo ir muziejininko Eduardo Volterio (1856-1941) - kūrybinis rankraštinis palikimas nėra sistemingai tyrinėtas, nesuregistruoti rankraščiai, išsibarstę po kitų asmenų ar įstaigų fondus. Straipsnyje skelbiamas palyginti nedidelės apimties Volterio rašinys "Kas tai yra Šmidto Necrolithuanica?" (VŠN), saugomas tarp Augustino Janulaičio rankraščių Lietuvos mokslų akademijos Vrublevskių bibliotekos Rankraščių skyriuje. Rašinio objektas - kolekcininko, archeologo ir muziejininko Carlo von Schmitho rankraštinis archeologinių piešinių albumas Necrolithuanica. Volterio rankraštinio palikimo tyrimas parodė, jog jis dėjo daug pastangų, kad 1880 metais iš Lietuvos į Švediją išvežtas ir kurį laiką iš mokslo pasaulio akiračio dingęs von Schmitho albumas bei jo archeologiniai rinkiniai (ar jų dalis) vėl būtų žinomi ir prieinami Lietuvos tyrėjams. VŠN išsamiai aptariama rankraštinio Carlo von Schmitho piešinių albumo istoriografija, jo struktūra, svarbiausi ir įdomiausi jame užfiksuoti archeologiniai radiniai, mitologemos, von Schmitho naudoti šaltiniai. ENThe creative manuscript heritage of Eduards Volters (1856–1941), one of the most prominent Baltic studies scientist of the end of the 19th c. – the beginning of the 20th c., a linguist, ethnologist, historian of literature and culture, bibliographer, textologist, archaeologist and museologist, has not been systematically researched, the manuscripts have not been registered, and they have been scattered across the stocks of other persons or institutions. The paper publishes a relatively short essay “Kas tai yra Šmidto Necrolithuanica?” [What Is Necrolithuanica by Schmidt?] by Volters (hereinafter – VŠN), which is kept among the manuscripts of Augustinas Janulaitis at the Manuscript Department of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. The object of the essay is the manuscript album of archaeological drawings “Necrolithuanica” by Carl von Schmidt, a collector, archaeologist and museologist. The research of Volters’ manuscript heritage shows that he put a lot of efforts to make von Schmidt’s album, which was taken from Lithuania to Sweden in 1880 and was not accessible to scientists for some time, and his archaeological collections (or a part thereof) known and available to Lithuanian researchers. VŠN exhaustively discusses the historiography of the manuscript album of drawings, its structure, the most important and interesting archaeological findings, mythologems and sources used by von Schmidt, recorded therein. VŠN shows that Volters was well acquainted with archaeological literature, maintained contacts with archaeologists from other countries, and took care of the condition and protection of Lithuanian archaeological monuments.
