Ką Birutė pavogė iš Antano, arba dar kartą apie Pūkelevičiūtės romaną "Aštuoni lapai"

LTStraipsniu siekiama atsiliepti į daugiau kaip prieš pusę amžiaus Antano Škėmos mestą kaltinimą Birutei Pūkelevičiūtei dėl plagijavimo, tačiau nesikoncentruojama ties įtakų ar skolinių problemomis, o bandoma išryškinti Aštuonių lapų ir Baltos drobulės struktūrinius, filosofinius ir figūratyvinės raiškos skirtumus. ENIn a questionnaire in Literatūros lankai of 1959 Antanas Škėma accused Birutė Pūkelevičiūtė of appropriating planning, the means of depiction and the mosaic technique of his writing and of being undeservedly acclaimed as an original writer. It seems nobody took Škėma’s declarations seriously, yet an exhaustive literary investigation of the "case" has not been carried so far. The paper makes attempts at comparing the key texts by Škėma and Pūkelevičiūtė, not in order to disclose one author as a plagiarist, but to emphasise their different attitudes to history, morals and religion, to attempt to understand how the close communication of two people influenced their creative imagination. The author focuses on the novel Aštuoni lapai (Eight Leaves), which received rather reserved reviews from Lithuanian male critics: its structure and poetics are analysed and the author’s concept reconstructed. At the end of the paper the author attempts to specify the position of this novel in the field of Lithuanian literature and raises the hypothesis that Aštuoni lapai are not an alternative to Škėma’s Balta drobulė (White Shroud), but rather a part of a diptych of novels. The comparison of these two novels makes the boundaries of the episteme of modern Lithuanian literature clearer and opens new interpretative horizons. [From the publication]
