Wizualizacja jako metoda podnoszenia prestiżu hierarchów unickich w Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów XVIII wieku

LTPalyginti žemą unitų hierarchų socialinį statusą sąlygojo Abiejų Tautų Respublikoje vyravęs menkesnis Rytų Bažnyčių kultūros vertinimas. XVIII a. unitų vyskupai siekė kelti savo, taip pat visos Unitų Bažnyčios prestižą ir šiam tikslui dažnai taikė vizualines priemones. Plačiausio atgarsio įvykiai, įtraukę visas visuomenės grupes, buvo Dievo Motinos atvaizdų karūnavimo iškilmės. XVIII a. paveikslai karūnuoti Žyrovičuose, Chelme ir Počajive. Per šias iškilmes unitų vyskupai siekė aukštinti asmeninį, giminės, taip pat savo pareigų prestižą. Dėl to šventovių fasadus, triumfo vartus dažnai puošė portretai ir herbai. Taip pat unitų vyskupų įtaką padėjo stiprinti ištaigingi katedrų statybos (Chelme, Lvove, Vitebske). XVIII a. Abiejų Tautų Respublikos unitų hierarchų vizualinė propaganda, be abejo, buvo įspūdinga, bet tik iš dalies stiprino vyskupų autoritetą. Viena vertus, uni* tų hierarchai įgydavo tikinčiųjų pagarbą, kūrė pozityvius ryšius su aukštais Katalikų Bažnyčios pareigūnais, įsiliedavo į didikų draugiją. Kita vertus, minėtos priemonės nepadėjo stiprinti unitų hierarchų įtakos valdovo dvare ir kitose svarbiausių politinių sprendimų vietose. ENThe relatively low social status of Uniate hierarchies was conditioned by the inferior assessment of culture of the Eastern Church which prevailed in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. In the 18th c., Uniate bishops sought to improve their own prestige as well as prestige of the whole Uniate Church and often applied visual aids for this purpose. Widest resonance events which involved all groups of the society were the ceremony of coronation of images of the Mother of God. In the 18th c., paintings were crowned in Žyrovičy, Chelm and Počajiv. During these ceremonies, Uniate bishops sought to raise the personal, family prestige as well as the prestige of their own duties. For this reason, temple facades, triumphal arches were often decorated with portraits and coats of arms. The construction of sumptuous cathedrals (in Chelm, Lvov, Vitebsk) also helped to strengthen the influence of Uniate bishops. In the 18th c., visual propaganda of Uniate hierarchies of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was undoubtedly impressive, though it was strengthening the authority of bishops only partially. On the one hand, Uniate hierarchies were gaining respect of the faithful, creating positive relationships with high-ranking officials of the Catholic Church, joining the Society of the nobility. On the other hand, these measures failed to strengthen the influence of Uniate hierarchies in the ruler’s household and other places of most important political decisions. Propaganda tools of Uniate bishops brought together Eastern and Western traditions, but also evidenced the identity of the Uniate Church in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth of various cultures.
