Atskleidžiama naujos SA srities – socialiai atsakingo investavimo – esmė ir turinys. Pateikiami S A priemonių diegimo Lietuvoje ir pasaulyje sugretinimo rezultatai. ENCorporate social responsibility (CSR) – meaning the ethical behaviour of a company towards society – is the new buzzword in Europe. Seeking for the highest quality of products and services, companies must manage their work by following the principles of sustainable development. Because of the rising stakeholders' pressure, successful companies are engaged to deal their success with others and to benefit people, business and environment. Organizations are about to form informal social-economic contracts with stakeholders. Today, such a situation may be called "corporate life". For this reason, companies, both small businesses and big corporations, must cooperate with neighborhood community and not to stay behind. The cooperation between society and organizations is being guaranteed by various good practice ideas, voluntary certified standards or systems, based on the concept of corporate social responsibility. The CSR concept as a guideline for a company's daily performance might guarantee business success and commercial benefit to the organization. Also, it helps to gain a good reputation, name and image as well as community's assurance. This article deals with the peculiarities and development of socially responsible business and the conception of corporate social responsibility. The CSR concept and those already being part of socially responsible business, more and more often require an adequate behaviour from the supply chain partners as well.The main purpose of this article is to disclose the peculiarities of the content and practice of socially responsible activities worldwide and in Lithuania, as well as to determine the evaluation tools of such business development and its main benefits. The research was performed using the analysis of scientific literature and normative documents, case-study analysis, survey of Lithuanian enterprises, structured interviews, statistical analysis and authors consultancy experience in the field of management and CSR. The paper presents the benchmarking and analysis of the development of these systems in Lithuania, in both the European and global context. The interrelations of different CSR tools, links among them, integration possibilities and improvement propositions are described. An incoming field of CSR – socially responsible investing – is analysed in this work. New original models of social responsibility tools' system and CSR-based ethical profit models are presented.
