ENThe article presents the importance of competence assessment in the implementation of life-long learning conception and creation of the knowledge society. The article discusses the importance of competence, qualification in the development of the teaching content by highlighting their significance for successful career. The results of the research on full-time and extramural students’ competence acquisition are presented. Having analyzed the Professional qualifications developed within the study programme of food production management and having assessed the research results, the development of this study programme and teaching content was grounded.
