LTStraipsnyje ištirta dvibalsių [ai], [ei] rašyba 1838 metais Sankt Peterburge išleisto Simono Daukanto leidinio Epitome Historiae Sacrae lietuviškose antraštėse ir Zodrodyje toie kningelieie essontiu žodiu, kuris pagrįstas šiaurės žemaičių kretingiškių šnekta. Nustatyta, kad Zodrodyje dvibalsiai [ai], [ei] rašomi digrafais , , , , , <ėy>, ir <ėi>, suvienbalsintas dvibalsis [ai] čia išreikštas viengubomis , <ą>, , <ė>, , <ė>ir dvigubomis ir grafemomis. Monoftongizuotas dvibalsis [ei] žymėtas rašmenimis , <ė>ir . Leidinio Epitome Historiae Sacrae lietuviškose antraštėse vartoti digrafai , , , , monoftongizuojant jie rašyti , , <ė>, <ė>, . Dvibalsių [ai], [ei] vienbalsinimas ir ypač jų žymėjimas digrafais , (gausiausiai jų rasta pirmoje dešimtyje Zodrodžio puslapių nors yra ir tolimesniuose) leidžia manyti, kad Zodrodys pradėtas rašyti bebaigiant Prasmą. O leidinio Epitome Historiae Sacrae lietuviškos antraštės tikrai išverstos vėliau, kai labiau įsigalėjo aukštaitiškų dvibalsių [ai], [ei] rašyba. ENThe spelling of diphthongs [ai], [ei] was explored in the publication Epitome Historiae Sacrae with Lithuanian headline Zodrodyje toie kningelieie essontiu zodiu of the article by Simonas Daukantas, which was published in Saint Petersburg in 1838. The article was based on Northern Samogitian subdialect of Kretinga inhabitants. It is ascertained that in the word Zodrodyje diphthongs [ai], [ei] are being spelt by , , , , , , and digraphs. A unisonous diphthong [ai] is uttered by single , <ą>, , , or as well as by binary graphemes - and . Diphthong [ei] was monophthonged and marked as , or . Digraphs , , , appered in Lithuanian headlines of the publication Epitome Historiae Sacrae. These digraphs were spelt as , , , , while they were being monophthonged. Denotation o f diphthongs [ai], [ei] by digraphs , (large amount of them were found in the ten initial pages of Zodrodys) and their unisonousing implied the writing of Zodrodys, which spelling is supposed to think was launched while concluding Prasma article writing. Whereas, headlines of publication Epitome Historiae Sacrae were translated afterwards, when the spelling of diphthongs [ai], [ei] of Upper Lithuania dialect had been establishe.
