ENThe article discuses the works of Sigitas Geda that were written on historical themes and it is aimed at disclosing typical ways of construing identity in the respective works. The major issues under discussion are: What are the ways of creating the multi-layered worldview? How are metaphors of polyphonic implications constructed, and what is the function of those metaphors? What is the role of inter-textual relationships in that kind of poetry? The focus of the study is not on the influences Geda might have undergone but rather on the peculiarities of Geda's creation and on the poetic models of (re)constructing culture, and all that is proven through specific attention to multiple details as evidence of the interactional type of relationship with one or another kind of (inter)texts as well as with the inherent tradition of those texts. The article is based on the ideas of semiotic research done by Julius Greimas and Yuriy Lotman. [From the publication]
