LTStraipsnyje siekiama atidžiau pažvelgti į miesto muzikinio bei teatrinio gyvenimo pokyčius 1863–1864 m. politinių įvykių fone. Išsamiau patyrinėti šią situaciją skatina pastebimas ne visada vienodas to meto politinių įvykių refleksijų pobūdis. Straipsnyje konstatuojami kontroversiški momentai, kūrę labiau pereinamojo laikotarpio epizodus, nei brėžę miesto muzikos bei teatro plėtros skiriamąją etapinio pobūdžio liniją. ENThe article attempts to take a closer look at the changes in the musical and theatrical life in Lithuanian towns in the context of the political events of 1863 and 1864. The interest in this topic has arisen from an observation that the effects of the political events of this period were not always uniform. The article points out the controversial moments that created an unconventional situation but did not draw a demarcation line to separate distinct stages in the urban musical and theatrical development. The impact of the tragic events of 1863–1864 on urban musical and theatrical life was not parallel to the changes in political life. After a brief period of calm or, in the case of theatre, enlivening, musical and theatrical activities continued into the 1890s when the way was opened up for the Lithuanian song and the Lithuanian-speaking intelligentsia started its theatrical and musical activities.
