LTStraipsnyje aptariamas vienas iš pirmųjų šiais metais prasidėjusios Lietuvos aukštojo mokslo reformos žingsnių - studentų krepšelių įvedimo eksperimentas. Publikacijoje analizuojami 2009 m. studentų priėmimo į Lietuvos aukštąsias mokyklas, taikant studentų krepšelių sistemą, rezultatai, aptariamos tikros ir tariamos šio eksperimento priežastys bei numatomos tolesnės šios aukštojo mokslo reformos iniciatyvos pasekmės. ENThe article analyses the first results of the experiment, which marks the starting point of the higher education reform in Lithuania. This summer the government has allocated a number of national scholarships, which were granted to the students who received the highest marks during the national examination. Contrary to the previous model of state funding, when the state financed a fixed number of study places in each study area and these places were distributed by the Ministry among the universities, this year the university entrants themselves decided which universities will receive the state funding by bringing their national scholarships to the universities of their choice. The article argues that, contrary to the expectations of the reformers, the entrants' choice has nothing to do with the quality of studies. It also doesn't show which higher education institutions are "good" and which are "bad". In reality the students' choice show the popularity and social prestige of certain specialities. Universities, contrary to the expectations of reform ideologists, have no plans of merging with each other or closing down, because the loss of the state funded places in most cases was compensated by the attracting more full fee-paying students. The only tangible result of the reform so far was redistribution of state funding from state to private sector of higher education, as for the first time the entrants were granted the right to bring their national scholarships to private institutions of higher education. The article concludes that the system of national scholarships will have to undergo certain corrections in order to support study programs which were not popular among students but which are important for national development, e.g. science and technologies. The new system will also encourage structural reforms inside institutions of higher educadon, because some study programs due to the lack of state funding will have to be terminated.
